Detroit-based Ally Financial, previously known as GMAC Inc., is making plans to close its Wichita call center.
The closure will affect about 200 employees here.
“Ally is going to be closing its Wichita facility by the end of the year,” says spokeswoman Susan Fitzpatrick.
The financial services company provides financial products and services to more than 17,000 automobile dealers.
“We’re streamlining the dealer customer support,” Fitzpatrick says.
A couple of the company’s Minnesota call centers have leases that are up, and those centers are going to consolidate into one site. There’s also a call center in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Wichita “call center will be absorbed into those two locations,” Fitzpatrick says.
She says it was a hard decision, but that “it’s really for the support of our customers.”
Phased reductions will begin in September, she says.
“It’ll be a seamless transition for our customers.”
