Former Finns Lounge owners to open Stepps Cocktails and Ales in Old Town

Former Finns Lounge owners Amy and Jason Stepien are opening a new club in the former Boots & Buckles space in Old Town.

“We’re trying to get everything open as soon as possible,” Amy Stepien says of the new Stepps Cocktails and Ales.

She and her husband are naming the business for a nickname both he and his father used to have during their high school days.

The Stepiens are changing locations because their landlord, Dave Burk, would like to do something else with the former Finns space.

The Old Town developer owns the more than 5,000-square-foot former Finns space at 131 N. Rock Island along with the former Boots space at 235 N. Mosley.

He now has apartments and condos above the former Finns space and says he doesn’t want a club below them. Burk says he’d like to find an office or retail user for the space instead.

Stepien says she and her husband were happy to have a chance to start with a new concept instead of one they inherited, as they did with Finns.

“We just wanted to change the concept and just make something our own,” she says.

They’ll still have DJs some nights of the week, but Stepien says they’ll focus more on an after-work crowd.

The Stepiens are remodeling the space and hope to be open in early May.
