The new and expanded QuikTrip at 21st and Ridge Road has been open less than a year, but there’s already remodeling going on there.

That’s because the store will be the second QuikTrip in Wichita to start serving sub sandwiches.

“This one will be open before too long,” says spokesman Mike Thornbrugh.

The first, at Pawnee and Meridian, started serving the sandwiches on Thursday.

The Tulsa-based chain tested the subs at a few stores in its hometown.

“They’ve been very successful,” Thornbrugh says.

However, Wichita will be the company’s first market to serve the sandwiches in each of its Generation 3 stores.

“We just really think it’s a great market to try it first, Thornbrugh says.

Each store will need to be reconfigured to serve the sandwiches.

“It’ll be a little different look inside,” Thornbrugh says.

The sandwiches can be made to order or be served as premade sandwiches “for people who don’t want to wait,” Thornbrugh says. “Just boom, get their sandwich and go.”

He can’t say how long it will take to convert each of the Generation 3 stores.

“One at a time,” Thornbrugh says.

“We just really think we have a chance to do very well.”

The flight crews for QT Air talk about the Garmin G5000. They fly four Learjet 75s to visit the QuikTrip’s 750 stores across 11 states.
