“They have downsized, and so consequently we are getting three architects from their office,” says GMCN owner Stewart Nelson.
“We’re more or less merging with them,” former PBA partner Allan Milbradt says. “It just made good sense to do it.”
He and former PBA partners Steve Hill and Clark Simpson are now with GMCN.

Former PBA partner Ed Klock is now at GLMV Architecture, and former partner Craig Stranathan is with a firm in Milwaukee.
At one point, PBA had almost 30 employees.
“You know, we had this recession kind of thing happen,” Milbradt says.
Both firms have traditionally done a lot of work related to schools, among other things.
“We felt like it was a good thing to combine forces,” Nelson says.
GMCN, which has eight employees, started in 1971.
The three former PBA employees will remain in Wichita. Their office essentially is moving across a parking lot from 1133 E. Second St. to 235 N. Ohio.
“We needed some additional help for the workload we have,” Nelson says.
Some of that work will be in the Wichita area.
“I can’t really release that right now,” Nelson says.
The PBA name won’t immediately go away, but eventually GMCN will start using its name here.
