Through running one company, Michael Steinberg has found a need to start another.
Steinberg is CEO of EM Home Care, which does business as Home Instead Senior Care. The company has caregivers who help seniors in their homes.
He’s now expanding with a second business, Kansas Staffing Co., to offer temporary staffing for all kinds of needs. Steinberg says it’s an evolution of what he does with Home Instead.
“Our real talent lies in making good hiring decisions,” he says.

Kansas Staffing will be more of a general agency, though Steinberg says, “We would probably still specialize to some extent in the health care field.”
He says a lot of businesses related to health care have reached out to him to help supplement their staffs.
“Why are all these businesses reaching out to us … if there isn’t a need for it?” Steinberg says he wondered.
Kansas Staffing will be a separate business from Home Instead, but it will open within the Home Instead office at 1919 N. Amidon. Steinberg expanded his offices there to 3,100 square feet in November.
When Kansas Staffing gets started in the next week or so, there will be two employees to run the company and five employees initially who will be available for temporary work. Steinberg says he expects to quicly add another five after that and continue to grow as needed.
The people he’ll temporarily place with other firms will receive benefits and pay through Kansas Staffing.

“We see ourselves serving both our employees and their clients,” Steinberg says. “We’re really interested in both sides.”
