Five years after opening at NewMarket Square at 21st and Maize Road, Dustee’s Fashion Accessories is closing. There’s a chance it could reopen elsewhere, though.
“If we could find the right location at the right price, you bet,” says owner David Green, who is from Oklahoma City.
“Wichita’s been a great market,” he says. “The people are outstanding.”
Green says he liked NewMarket Square very much as well but couldn’t successfully come to terms on a new lease.

“It just wasn’t conducive to our future.”
Though Green is open to relocating, he says he’s focusing more on another business he owns now. He has North Pole City, a Christmas store in Oklahoma City, and a division of the store called North Pole City Lights that’s all about LED lights.
“We’re directing a lot of our efforts in that direction,” he says.
That includes possibly finding a Wichita storefront for the light business.
Dustee’s will be closed Monday and Tuesday and then will reopen for a closing sale on Wednesday.
April 25 is the store’s last day in business.
Slawson Cos. broker April Reed says she’s working on a lease for the 6,500-square-foot space, which is next to Michael’s and a couple of doors down from Best Buy.
Look for more information on the new lease soon.
