Charlie Badeen is adding 316 Lounge & Nightclub to his Joe’s Oldtown Bar & Grill.
“It’s all under Joe’s,” he says.
The lounge is in the space to the east of Joe’s, which is at 222 N. Washington.
Badeen had been having live music in the room under the name Joe’s Bandstand & Venue, but he says the music didn’t attract a lot of people. So he’s moving his weekend DJ from Joe’s to the space next door and creating a dance club from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“That way the other side can be more of a restaurant and sports bar,” Badeen says.
He’ll also continue to use the space where 316 is opening for overflow seating and private parties.
The lounge will open in the next week and a half or so.
Badeen says he’s going to install a new sign at Joe’s to emphasize the restaurant side of the business and feature daily specials, such as Joe’s popular Taco Tuesdays.
“We have really good food, and we do a lot of food business,” Badeen says.
“We’re going to push more food at Joe’s and make it more of a restaurant.”
Badeen isn’t sure what all that will entail.
“I have no idea yet. I haven’t gotten to that point.”
