Bella Studio Salons to open in former Gobi Grille space

There’s a new business opening on the west side in the former Gobi Grille space, which is where Victory Sports Grille was before that.

This time, though, it’s not a restaurant.

Owner Jeff Lucke “really didn’t want to put another restaurant in,” says Jim Strawn of Strawn Contracting in Hutchinson.

Strawn says Lucke, a CPA, asked him to come look at the building, which is on Ridge Road just north of 21st Street, and offer his opinion on what would be a good business for it.

Strawn owns Bella Studio Salons in Hutchinson, a booth rental business for hair stylists and aestheticians, and suggested the same for this space. That’s what the two are now planning.

“He and I partnered on this project,” Strawn says.

“It’s a great location. I think it’s a wonderful building and with great parking.”

Strawn says he’s working with a decorator to redesign the building. That includes adding more windows so the maximum number of booth renters can have outside views. Strawn says that’s one of the benefits of having a stand-alone building instead of one in a strip center.

As a contractor, Strawn says he does “quite a bit of work” in Wichita.

“This is my first time in the Wichita real estate market,” he says. “I’ve had good experience here.”

He thinks Bella Studio Salons also will do well here.

Strawn is seeking 30 renters for the space.

Look for the business to open in about three months.
