The west side is getting some new Bling.

Nicole Campos and her husband, Mark, are bringing what she calls their “super trendy” women’s apparel, accessories and purse store to NewMarket Square at 21st and Maize Road.

The two started their chain in Scott City in 2008, and it’s already grown to Garden City, Hays, Salina and Manhattan.

Nicole Campos says Wichitans have shopped at the other Bling stores and have asked her to bring it to Wichita.

“We get requests constantly in our other stores,” she says. “It’s probably our most-asked-for location.”

Campos says she knows she started the business at a particularly rough time – “That’s what I’ve heard,” she says – but the economic downturn didn’t hurt the chain taking off. She thinks what she offers is part of the reason.

“We go to buying shows every month, so we’re always on top of it,” Campos says.

She says there are new shipments at the stores every day.

“We really do – and I’m not just saying this – we really do have customers of all-age women. We have something for everybody.”

She says she’s also careful not to have too much of one item and to keep merchandise affordable.

“We also have some really great people,” Campos says of staff who help run the stores.

Bling will be in 1,958 square feet at the west end cap of the same building as Justice.

Campos says she didn’t know where to look for Wichita space before she chose NewMarket Square.

“Honestly, I was not sure,” she says. “We actually just asked a million people. That was always what came up.”

April Reed of Slawson Cos. handled the deal.

“We’re so excited to bring Bling to Wichita,” Campos says.

She says it should open by the end of April or early May and that an east-side store is a possibility for the future as well.

“We’ll see how it goes.”

It sounds like Campos and her husband have much bigger expansion plans than that.

“That’s kind of top secret right now,” she says, “but it’s exciting.”
