Instead of celebrating the grand opening of his Meyer’s Tires in new space on Monday, Michael Meyer is out buying fuses instead.
“The fuses in the main fuse box exploded,” he says of his new building. “It’s been a nightmare.”
Meyer says he’s regrouping and will open on Tuesday instead.
The almost 5-year-old business has been in 1,000 square feet at the southeast corner of 55th and Broadway.
It’s now opening in 5,000 square feet at 3120 S. Hillside, which is just north of 31st and Hillside.
“It’s like five of my old buildings put together,” Meyer says.
The business offers tire repair, sales and installation and soon will offer alignments, too.
Meyer says the building used to be home to another tire company that is now a much bigger business.
“Hopefully I can trail in their footsteps.”
