Planet Sub franchisees Linda and Doug Brantner are having a soft opening this week for their third restaurant, which is in Delano.

This one is at 535 W. Douglas in Occidental Management’s Travel Air Building.

“It’s kind of a fun-looking store,” Doug Brantner says. “It’s a little bit of an industrial one, but it’s a cozy place, too.”

The Brantners are leasing 3,300 square feet, about 2,800 of which will be for the restaurant. The rest will be office and storage space for all of their restaurants.

There’s a VIP grand opening of the business scheduled for Friday.

To sign up for the opening, which will feature prizes such as free subs for a year and a Dr. Pepper bicycle, go to www.planetsub.com and follow the links to the Delano store or text “psub” to 55678.

The restaurant features bar seating and an area for using laptops.

“I think (it’s) the nicest one we’ve put together so far,” Brantner says.

He and his wife also own the Planet Sub on Rock Road just south of 37th Street North and a newer one in the former Metro Grill space at Central and Maize Road.

The Delano restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily except for Sundays, when it will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“We’re going to open seven days a week for a while,” Brantner says.

That could change depending on how much business there is on Sundays.

Catering will be a particular emphasis with this Planet Sub, Brantner says.

“We’re going to try to do an awful lot of catering for downtown.”
