Maaco, the country’s largest franchise for paint and collision repair, will be entering the Wichita market within the next six months.
Rob Cambruzzi, the company’s vice president of franchise sales and development, says Maaco is looking for a local franchisee but will open with a larger regional franchisee if necessary.
“We prefer to find someone local,” he says. For relationships in the business community and with customers, he says, “It’s better to have guys on the ground.”
Maaco is part of Charlotte, N.C.-based Driven Brands, which has more than 3,000 stores nationally, almost 500 of which are Maaco stores.
Cambruzzi says the 7,000-square-foot stores typically do $1.2 million in sales annually with seven to 10 employees per store.
Franchises cost $250,000 to $350,000, and the company says franchisees typically have a net annual income of $192,240.
Cambruzzi says there’s already one potential franchisee for the market, though nothing is signed yet.
Ideally, he says the stores would move into existing auto body spaces.
“It’s kind of up to the franchisee if they have real estate.”
Cambruzzi says there’s potential for two or three Maaco stores in Wichita.
“We’re just really excited to come in there,” he says. “We don’t have any coverage there, so it’s an obvious market for us to get placement in.”
