Fidelity Bank Foundation gives $25,000 for WATC scholarship program

The Fidelity Bank Foundation has provided a $25,000 grant to support Wichita Area Technical College’s Wichita Promise program, according to a news release from the school.

Established in April, Wichita Promise is a scholarship program that pays for tuition and fees for specific high-wage, high-demand field program at the technical college. The goal of the program is to increase Wichita’s skilled workforce.

Eligible Wichita Promise training programs include aerospace manufacturing technology, aerospace coating and paint technology, composite technology, machining technology, automotive technology, industrial automation, machine maintenance and carpentry, according to the release.

Students who complete their program are also guaranteed an interview with a local company. In an email, Andy McFayden, a spokesman for the college, said the contribution will “significantly increase” the number of available scholarships.

“Wichita Promise is very much aligned with Fidelity’s Bravely Onward promise,” said Aaron Bastian, president of Fidelity Bank, while referencing the bank’s community action campaign in a statement. “Both are about taking action to ensure that our city fulfills its great potential. We are proud to help further WATC’s program and encourage other leaders and businesses in Wichita to join us.”
