Bank of America to close its Dodge City branch early next year

Bank of America plans to close its branch in Dodge City.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank will close the branch at 619 N. Second Ave. in Dodge City on Feb. 6, bank spokeswoman Diane Wagner said in an e-mail Friday.

Customers were notified of the closing in a letter last Friday, she said.

Wagner said the bank does not disclose the number of people it employs at a branch. She said affected employees will be receiving severance or help with transferring to other positions and locations within Bank of America.

“The decision to close is driven primarily by a decline in transactions, as customers increasingly rely on other channels including mobile banking and online banking,” she said in the e-mail.

The closing marks the bank’s last location in Dodge City.

At one time it operated two branches there. The second was at 2307 N. Central.
