Community National opens Augusta loan office, plans branch

A Chanute-based bank opened its planned loan office in Augusta on Monday.

Eric Grooms, executive vice president for Community National Bank & Trust, said the office is at 512 State St.

It is in the same building that once housed Emprise Bank — and before that, hometown Prairie State Bank, where Grooms had previously worked.

Grooms will oversee the Augusta office.

He said in an e-mail that the $840-million-asset bank has filed an application with its regulator to convert the office into a full-service branch late this year or early next.
