American State Bank opening new headquarters in downtown Wichita at Douglas and Emporia
American State Bank and Trust is opening a new headquarters branch location in downtown Wichita.
The bank location will open late this year at 430 E. Douglas, sharing the space with IMA Financial Group. The bank will occupy the first floor of the building, which is under construction.
“We have strong roots in Kansas, and have been part of Wichita for a long time,” bank President and CEO Doug Thurman said in a statement. “By bringing our commercial lending group together, we can build a stronger team, able to serve our current and future customers. We will have 25 employees in the new location, including two or three new positions.”
American State Bank changed its name from Rose Hill Bank in 2018. The new branch will make three locations in Wichita, one in Rose Hill and one in Augusta, in addition to a dozen other branches in Kansas.
“We have a great footprint in Kansas, but felt like we were missing that larger Wichita presence,” said Lee Borck, the bank’s chairman. “By being a part of the downtown community, we want to make a statement that we are committed to the growth of Wichita and we believe in downtown. And we couldn’t have asked for a better location than the prominent Douglas and Emporia corner.”
The location will have full-service consumer banking, including an ATM, a night drop depository, a banking technology learning center and traditional in-person banking.
“We want guests to have a great experience when they come into our bank. We will have comfortable seating where you can utilize free Wi-Fi, while enjoying a cup of coffee,” said bank chief marketing officer Terri Maus. “We believe in working face-to-face with customers, so you will find real people ready to help. And we want you to have fun while you are there. We will be showcasing some local art and are looking forward to having gatherings and unique events inside our space.”
