Sunflower Bank applies to regulator for first Kansas City area branch

Sunflower Bank has filed an application to establish a branch in Overland Park, which would be the Salina-based bank’s first such office in the Kansas City area.

According to information made public on the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s website, Sunflower plans to locate the branch at 82 Corporate Woods, Suite 150, in Overland Park.

The application is under a 30-day public comment period, which ends Oct. 22, according to the filing with the OCC.

The $1.7 billion bank, which operates three offices in Wichita and 25 in Kansas, announced last week that it planned to merge with Denver-based Western Financial, a bank holding company with $648 million in assets that operates an investment and trust business with $4.8 billion of assets under management.
