South Korean airline plans order for 25 Airbus jets

Airbus said Wednesday that South Korea’s Asiana Airlines plans to order 25 A321neo narrowbody jets.

The deal has a value of $3.1 billion at current list prices.

The A321neo will be part of an existing fleet of A320 family aircraft operated by Asiana Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary Air Busan.

Airbus said in the release that the A321 will become the primary narrowbody jet for both airlines.

Asiana was the operator of a Boeing 777 that crashed at San Francisco International Airport in July 2013, killing three people and injuring more than 180 of the 307 passengers and crew members on board.
