Bombardier takes American Airlines order for 24 regional jets

The Canadian parent of Learjet said Monday that American Airlines has made a firm order for 24 CRJ900 NextGen regional jets.

Monday’s order, valued by Bombardier Commercial Aircraft at $1.14 billion at list prices, is part of a previously announced optional order by American for up to 40 regional jets.

The airplanes will be operated by American subsidiary PSA Airlines, under the American Eagle name.

Bombardier said including the American order, it has recorded firm orders for 1,858 CRJ jetliners, including 384 CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen aircraft.
