COO suddenly resigns post at aircraft supplier LMI Aero
The chief operating officer of aircraft supplier LMI Aerospace has left his job, a month after the company said it would close one of its two Wichita plants.
The St. Louis-based company said in a news release that Joe DeMartino resigned his position Tuesday for personal reasons.
“We have a strong team of leaders that will work together to guide the organization forward, ensure we remain focused on operational excellence to meet our customer commitments, and continue to transform our business for the growth we see in the years ahead,” LMI chief executive Dan Korte said in the release. “We wish Joe well in his future endeavors.”
LMI said Korte will oversee DeMartino’s duties. DiMartino had been with the company as COO since August 2014.
On June 29 LMI said it would close its sheet-metal fabrication plant at 2621 W. Esthner, affecting 36 employees and temporary workers.
The plant, near South Meridian and Orient Boulevard, is expected to close by the end of September.
Officials said the closure would not affect its larger facility at 2853 S. Hillside, which machines aircraft parts and employs 110 people.
