A Wichita Eisenhower National Airport official said no indications of smoke or fire were found in an American Eagle regional jet that made an emergency landing about 7 a.m. Monday.
The Embraer ERJ 145 regional jet with 55 people on board landed safely at Eisenhower after a smoke indicator alarm for the jet’s baggage compartment activated.
The American Eagle jet was flying from Grand Island, Neb., to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport when the alarm sounded, said Valerie Wise, air service and business development director for the Wichita Airport Authority.
“No signs of smoke or fire were found in the baggage bay,” Wise said.
