Textron Aviation said Thursday it has completed its acquisition of Able Engineering & Component Services and Able Aerospace.

“This is a natural fit for Textron, Textron Aviation and our customers,” Textron Aviation president and CEO Scott Ernest said in a news release on Thursday. “This acquisition aligns with our strategy to enhance MRO capabilities and broaden our already world-class service offerings … we believe Able adds tremendous value for aircraft parts and maintenance that will reduce lead time for aircraft parts and increase aircraft availability.”

The Eagle reported nearly two weeks ago that the parent of Cessna and Beechcraft was working on the deal for the Arizona-based company that provides aircraft parts and maintenance, repair and overhaul services for airplanes and helicopters.

Able employs about 450 people and is located at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in the city of Mesa, a suburb of Phoenix. Also located at the same airport is a Cessna Citation Service Center.

According to the release, Able has developed more than 2,800 unique, proprietary Federal Aviation Administration-approved repairs on aircraft components.
