Bombardier earns type certificate for new CS100 airliner
The Canadian parent of Learjet said Friday it has received type certification of its C Series CS100 narrowbody airliner, allowing deliveries of Bombardier’s biggest passenger jet to begin.
“This is an historic moment for Bombardier,” said Fred Cromer, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft president, said in a news release. “Years of dedicated efforts and collaboration culminate today in a very proud moment for many as we celebrate the CS100 aircraft’s Transport Canada Type Certification.”
Bombardier is expecting its first CS100 delivery to Swiss, to occur in the second quarter of 2016, the company said in the release.
The company said the flight test program included more than 3,000 flight hours, some of which occurred in Wichita, where it operates a flight test center on the grounds of Bombardier Learjet, on the west side of Wichita Eisenhower National Airport.
Bombardier said its larger C Series jet, the CS300, “is on track to obtain its Type Certificate within the next six months as planned.”
