Eisenhower airport passenger counts cross million mark in August

The number of people flying to and from Wichita Eisenhower National Airport rose 3 percent year-over-year in August.

That’s according to the Wichita Airport Authority’s Aviation Activity report, which said 135,373 passengers passed through the airport in August 2015, compared with 131,417 in the same month last year.

August also marked the first month this year in which the passenger counts at Eisenhower topped the 1 million mark, according to the report.

In the first eight months of 2015, 1.04 million passengers flew to and from Eisenhower. That’s up 2.59 percent from 1.01 million passengers in the same period a year ago.

The number of daily departures at the airport in August was 36, down from 37 in August 2014.
