Aviation supplier conference set for next week

An exposition aimed at local aircraft suppliers and related companies will be held next week.

As of Friday, 70 companies are signed up to exhibit at the Air Capital Aviation Expo, Aug. 27-29, which will be held at Century II Expo Hall.

“So far, the response has been great,” Richard Bartel, who created and organized the event, said Friday. “I’ve been receiving e-mails and phone calls from companies all over the world.”

Bartel said the event serves to promote aviation and the industry in Wichita.

“I’m predicting the attendance of the show will be good, and that just gives a perfect opportunity for all aviation companies or people … to network their business and themselves,” he said.

Bartel said he’s been in the aviation industry for more than 28 years and has worked for suppliers and manufacturers such as Nordam and Boeing.

He developed the idea for the trade show about a year ago, partly from his side business, Bartel Productions, which for the past six years has produced the Park City Chill, an indoor motorcycle, car and semi-truck show at the Kansas Pavilions in Park City.

Financing for the trade show is coming through Bartel, a silent partner and seven sponsors: IntelliFinishing, Progressive Alloy Steels Unlimited, Shackelford Machine, GlobalParts.aero, Aero Metals Alliance, Sunshine Metals and Daemyung Engineering Co.
