Southwest to resume daily flights to Wichita’s No. 1 leisure destination this fall

Southwest Airlines will resume daily flights from Wichita’s Eisenhower National Airport to Las Vegas between Nov. 5 and Jan. 7, 2024.

The airline hasn’t offered daily flights to Harry Reid International Airport since May 2020.

Flights from Wichita will depart at 12:35 p.m. and arrive in Vegas at 1:25 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, according to a city of Wichita news release. Return flights will depart at 12:05 p.m. and arrive in Wichita at 4:25 p.m.

“It’s a very encouraging sign because it tells me they’re getting the capacity, the pilots, back,” said Valerie Wise with the Wichita Airport Authority.

The release does not include information about ticket pricing. A rate calculator is available on Southwest’s website.

Southwest switched to weekend-only flights to Vegas in 2020 when demand plummeted at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Allegiant Airlines also offers twice-weekly flights to Vegas, which Wise said is the airport’s number-one leisure destination.

Southwest will reduce their Denver service to twice daily flights and St. Louis will continue to have service twice a day, according to the release. The airline also plans to offer daily service to Phoenix during peak travel days in November and December before returning to weekend service.

“Despite challenges presented by delays in aircraft deliveries, Southwest remains committed to restoring its network,” the release states.
