Eisenhower Airport's passenger numbers rise in May

The number of passengers using Wichita Eisenhower National Airport was up in May, but slightly down for the first five months of the year.

That’s according to the airport’s Aviation Activity Report, which said 142,572 people flew to and from the airport last month, a 1.46 percent increase from 140,524 passengers in May 2014. Passengers departing the airport totaled 72,678, a 1.6 percent increase from 71,525 in May 2014. Passengers arriving at the airport in May 2015 totaled 69,894, up 1.3 percent from 68,999 in the same month in 2014.

But in the January through May period, passengers decreased slightly compared with the same period a year ago.

The report said total passengers were 592,461 in the first five months of 2015, down 0.4 percent from 592,673 in the same period in 2014. The decrease was greatest in passengers departing the airport in the five-month period: 295,684 in 2015 compared with 296,566 in 2014, a 0.3 percent decrease.

Passengers arriving at Eisenhower totaled 296,777 in the first five months of the year, compared with 296,107 in the same period in 2014, a 0.23 percent increase.

The report said there were 37 daily departures at Eisenhower in May, compared with 35 in May 2014.
