If you’re flying on Allegiant Air, be sure to print your boarding passes before you get to the airport or use a mobile boarding pass on a mobile device.

Starting this month, Allegiant Air is charging passengers $5 for an agent to print a boarding pass at the airport.

The charge is for each pass printed.

Passengers can avoid the charge if they check in online and print their boarding passes at home or use a mobile boarding pass on their phones or tablets.

The charges began Monday, according to information from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport.

In other Allegiant news, the airline’s summer nonstop flight from Wichita to Los Angeles will end Saturday.

“It’s a seasonal service,” said Valerie Wise, air service and business development manager for Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. “We still have the United nonstop service to LA on a daily basis.”

Allegiant typically restarts the service to Los Angeles in the spring.

In addition, Allegiant’s service to Las Vegas will be limited to two weekly flights during the month of September, the airport said. Flights will operate only on Sundays and Thursdays.

The four-flights-a-week schedule will resume the week of Sept. 28.

Southwest Airlines also is modifying its Wichita schedule to Dallas. Beginning Oct. 13, the departure from Wichita to Dallas will move from 6:45 a.m. to 6:10 a.m.

That will let travelers more easily connect to more of Southwest’s new flights that originate in Dallas. Those include such destinations as Atlanta, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Houston, Baltimore, Orlando, San Antonio and Tampa, the airport said.

In addition, Southwest departures from Wichita to Chicago Midway will move from 10 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. beginning in November. The afternoon departure time will move from 6:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

“That earlier departure to Chicago will be attractive,” Wise said.

Departure times on returning flights from Chicago are also changing.

United Airlines also is making changes in its service.

Departure times for nonstop service to Los Angeles from Wichita will change beginning Oct. 26 – from roughly 7 in the morning to 6 at night.

In addition, “they’re upgrading their aircraft,” Wise said.

United will increase the use of narrow-body service to Denver beginning in October and reduce regional jet and turboprop service.

The number of daily flights will not change, however.

“It’s their effort to reduce the use of 50-seat RJs because of their economics,” Wise said.

United will start serving the Houston market from Wichita this month with a 70-seat CR7. It will operate 10 flights during September on the CR7 and increase that to 25 flights in October.

It will continue using the 50-seat regional jet on the route as well, the airport said.
