A new statewide group formed to promote the drone industry in Kansas plans to meet next week to elect its first officers.
The Coalition for Kansas Unmanned Systems Society will meet at 4:30 p.m. on June 16 at the Kansas Department of Transportation headquarters in Topeka to hear updates on drone projects in Kansas and the search for the state’s first director of unmanned aerial systems as well as to select its first group of leaders.
The coalition is an outgrowth of conferences and workshops on drones held throughout the state last year including in Wichita, a KDOT aviation division official said Tuesday.
The coalition comprises officials from state government, industry and academia.
