A regional airline holding company has placed a firm order for five Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets with an option for five more.
Chorus Aviation, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, will use the 76-seat aircraft for its regional carrier Jazz, operating as Air Canada Express.
Bombardier said the five-aircraft order is valued at $229 million. If all the options were exercised the deal’s value would total $467 million.
Deliveries of the CRJ900s are expected in 2017. They are part of Jazz’s fleet modernization plan, which include reconfiguring the regional airline’s 16 CRJ705 jets and 21 Q400 turboprops for more seating.
