AOPA chief Baker to headline October Aero Club

Mark Baker, the president of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, will be the keynote speaker at the Wichita Aero Club’s luncheon next week.

Baker is a commercial pilot with more than 7,500 hours and ratings in helicopters, seaplanes and business jets.

He is the 75-year-old organization’s fifth president, assuming the role in September 2013.

Prior to taking the AOPA post, Baker served in various executive posts with a number of large consumer product companies and retailers, including chief operating officer at Scotts Miracle-Gro, president and CEO of Gander Mountain Co., and chief merchandizing officer and executive vice president for the Home Depot.

Baker will speak at the luncheon set for noon, Oct. 15 at the Doubletree by Hilton Wichita Airport, 2098 Airport Road.

Tickets for the event, which is open to the public, are $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers.
