For military aviation buffs, Great Bend Airport will be the place to be this weekend.

The airport, about 118 miles northwest of Wichita, is hosting its annual Airfest, which runs Friday through Sunday.

The show will feature the likes of “FiFi,” currently the only airworthy B-29 Bomber in operation (although a Wichita group aims to unseat FiFi’s operational exclusivity with the restoration of “Doc”), as well as a P-51 Mustang, a B-25 Mitchell bomber as well as F-86 and a T-33 Lockheed military jets.

In all, there will be 15 military aircraft on display at the show.

Airfest also will feature helicopter rides, hot air balloons, a 1940s hangar dance and fly-in.

Daily admission to the event is $5 per person.
