A Douglas C-47 that flew during World War II is expected to fly into Stearman Field on Wednesday on its way to an air show in Michigan.
The twin-engine prop plane named “Betsy’s Biscuit Bomber” will be available Thursday afternoon for tours and flights, for a charitable donation, organizers said.
The airplane, which transported troops and paratroopers, is in its original condition and flew in Europe during the war. It is based at the Estrella Warbirds Museum in Paso Robles, Calif.
Stearman Field is a public airport at 14789 SW 30th St. in Benton, 21 miles northeast of downtown Wichita.
