Textron pledges $100,000 to support K-State women engineers

Textron Aviation has pledged a $100,000 gift to support Kansas State University’s College of Engineering, the university said on Monday.

The university said in a news release that with the gift, it will name a conference room after the Wichita-based manufacturer of Cessna and Beechcraft jets and airplanes, which will support women engineering students.

The Textron Aviation Women in Engineering Conference Roomwill support meetings and other activities for Women in Engineering and other student groups.

“We are proud to partner with K-State in diversifying and strengthening the pipeline of engineering professionals,” Michael Thacker, Textron Aviation senior vice president of engineering, said in the release.
