A year-old story about layoffs at Spirit AeroSystems has been getting a lot of attention this week by Spirit employees.
The story, published in August 2013, talked about upcoming layoffs at Spirit, which took place last year.
The story gained new attention this week from readers who noticed the archived story carried a date stamp that showed it had been updated this month.
There have been questions about what that means and whether the story itself had been updated.

No, it hasn’t. The new date is the result of old stories being moved from an old archive into a new one that is part of the redesigned website that kansas.com launched this month.
If you’re reading this, you likely noticed the new look to The Eagle’s website, kansas.com.
As part of the change, archived stories were bundled and moved to the new site ahead of its launch last week.
When that occurred, stories automatically received a tag saying they were updated that day.
In an attempt to clear up the confusion, The Eagle added a line Tuesday to the story in question saying it had originally appeared on Aug. 29, 2013.
That addition, of course, only added another new updated date.
We’re sorry for the confusion.
We do hope you like the new website.
