Wheels Up teal plane targets ovarian cancer
Private aviation membership company Wheels Up has unveiled a second airplane aimed at raising awareness of another form of cancer.
The New York-based company painted one of its Beechcraft King Air 350is in a teal color to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and to benefit the Janet Burros Memorial Foundation, which supports early detection, prevention and treatment of ovarian cancer. Wheels Up also will donate a portion of the fees it collects from new members who sign up in September, which also is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.
The teal airplane joins Wheels Up’s pink King Air 350i that was unveiled last year in Wichita to raise awareness of breast cancer and support the Dubin Breast Center of the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai.
Wheels Up said in a news release that along with the teal plane unveiling it has also started the Wheels Up Cares program, a philanthropic initiative to raise awareness and funds for causes important to the company and its members.
Wheels Up is an important customer to Wichita’s Textron Aviation because its fleet exclusively comprises the King Air 350i and Cessna Citation Excel/XLS business jets.
