Meetings planned to help laid-off Learjet workers

Workers at Bombardier Learjet who were laid off last month can learn about benefits and services available to them through a series of meetings later this month.

The Workforce Centers of South Central Kansas are planning to host a series of informational meetings on Feb. 23 that will cover benefits and services, including Trade Adjustment Assistance benefits.

The meetings will be held at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Wichita Workforce Center, 2021 N. Amidon, Suite 1100.

Officials said the benefits that may be available include job search and relocation assistance, and paid education or retraining opportunities. Workers older than 50 could qualify for wage subsidies, and others could be eligible to apply for additional income support. Application deadlines apply to receive TAA benefits.

Workers unable to attend one of the meetings are encouraged to visit the Workforce Center soon.
