Kansas economy grows strongly in the first quarter
The Kansas economy grew strongly in the first quarter, up 2 percent on a annual basis, placing it 14th best in the nation, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
The farm sector contributed more than half of that growth, while the state’s real estate and leasing sector was also strong. Transportation and warehousing was the weakest sector.
The state economy generated $148.5 billion in activity on an annualized basis in the first quarter, which is less than 1 percent of the total national economy.
