A union trying to organize T-Mobile’s call center will open a field office in Wichita on Monday, according to the union.

T-Mobile Workers United will open its Wichita field office, 609 N. Broadway, to support its ongoing organizing campaign. It is also trying to organize other T-Mobile and MetroPCS facilities.

The union is an outgrowth of the Communications Workers of America and Germany’s largest union, ver.di, which represents workers at T-Mobile’s parent company Deutsche Telekom. Several senior union leaders as well as a few state legislators will be at the 11 a.m. ceremony.

The union estimates there are about 500 customer service employees at T-Mobile’s call center, 2525 N. Woodlawn.
