Kansas leads among Plains states for income growth
Kansas personal income in the first quarter of 2016 was up 1 percent from the fourth quarter, placing it ahead of most other Plains states, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
The state ranked 22nd among states in income growth for the quarter.
The state recorded a total of $136.1 billion in personal income, which includes all wages, benefits, dividends, interest, rent and government payments such as Social Security.
The farm sector grew the most and contributed about a quarter of the state’s overall growth.
