Wichita one of top cities to start a business, according to payments company
Wichita is one of the best cities in the U.S. to start a small business, according to a merchant payment company.
ShopKeep, a Cloud-based supplier of mobile point-of-sale software and hardware, rated Wichita one of the top five cities in which to start a small business. The other four cities in the top five are Indianapolis; Miami; Portland, Maine; and Chattanooga, Tenn.
From the first quarter of 2015 through the same period in 2016, the company said, the 37 businesses it supplies in Wichita witnessed a 24 percent increase in total transactions and a 47 percent increase in total revenue. ShopKeep said it analyzed data from more than 23,000 independent businesses across all 50 states, according to company spokeswoman Sarah Borton.
