Mike Chance, the president of Chance Rides, has died, according to a news release from the company.
Chance, 42, died Tuesday after losing his “long-term and well-fought battle with depression,” his father, Dick Chance, said in the release. Dick Chance is CEO of Chance Rides.
Mike Chance, a graduate of Kansas State University, joined the family business in 2000. The release said he was instrumental in expanding the company into roller coaster design and manufacturing and in the development of new products.
The release said Chance Rides announced the news to employees Wednesday morning and is offering ongoing grief counseling for its 100 employees. It said the family would have no further comment beyond the news release.
Service arrangements and memorials are pending, the release said.
