Via Christi’s chief executive is leaving Wichita, according to a news release Thursday.
Jeff Korsmo, CEO of Via Christi Health in Kansas since 2011, will leave next month for a new position in his home state of Minnesota, the release said. Korsmo’s last day with Via Christi will be May 13.
Korsmo also serves as senior vice president for Ascension Health and ministry leader for the health network’s Kansas market.
Todd Conklin, Via Christi’s chief operating officer, will serve as interim CEO while a national search is conducted to find Korsmo’s permanent replacement at Via Christi, according to the release.
Conklin, who joined Via Christi in October, is not a candidate for the Ascension ministry leader position, the release said.
Korsmo is leaving for a leadership position with Essentia Health, which is headquartered in Duluth, Minn. Before joining Via Christi, Korsmo worked for Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic, serving in several different capacities over the course of nearly three decades, according to the release.
The release said Korsmo looks forward to returning to his home to be closer to family and friends.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Jeff for the past several years,” Patricia Maryland, president of Ascension Health, said in the release. “His commitment and dedication to providing compassionate, personalized care to individuals across Kansas, especially people living in poverty and those most vulnerable, has contributed to the success of our healthcare ministry in Kansas.”
Via Christi, which is a member of the Ascension Health network, employs about 10,000 people in Kansas.
