Wichita area gasoline prices rise slightly
Gas prices, as of Monday morning, were up an average of 6 cents from last week, to $1.93, in the Wichita area, according to online gas price comparison site Gasbuddy.com.
April is a month that typically sees price increases as refiners change over to the more expensive summer blends of gasoline, but prices are flat or up just a few cents from a month ago.
“We’ve been fortunate that 2016 delivered a successful and largely uneventful transition by refineries to the ‘summer blend’ fuel formulation which has been completed in California and is nearing completion almost everywhere else. Concurrent output through March and early April matches levels not seen since 2005,” said Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy in a statement. “So the healthy inventory in advance of demand has helped flatten prices, but we don’t expect that to last when summer travel kicks into high gear.”
