Manufacturing declines for 13th month in KC Fed region

Manufacturing in the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank District continued to shrink in March, the 13th month in a row it has declined, according to the bank.

Manufacturers in the district have been hammered by sagging demand from oil and gas drillers and from farmers and ranchers, as well as experiencing falling exports caused by the rising value of the dollar and a slowing international economy.

The district includes Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, the western third of Missouri and the northern half of New Mexico.
