State Farm: Kansas among top 10 states for hail damage claims

Kansas was among the top 10 states with the most State Farm hail damage claims last year, according to a news release from the insurance company.

The state finished 2015 with 8,400 hail claims, the eighth-most among U.S. states, according to the company. The number is down slightly from about 11,600 hail claims in 2014.

Texas had the most State Farm hail damage claims in 2015 with more than 52,000, followed by Illinois (27,000), Colorado (24,000), Oklahoma (18,300) and Missouri (18,200). All totals were rounded to the nearest hundred, according to the release.

Damage to homes and autos caused by hail across the country cost the insurance company more than $2 billion in 2015, the release said.
