U-Haul: Slightly more came to Wichita than moved away in 2015

More people came to Wichita than moved away from the city last year, though the margin was razor thin.

As part of an annual survey by U-Haul, the do-it-yourself moving and storage company reported that 50.3 percent of U-Haul traffic relative to Wichita came into the city in 2015. Wichita also had the most arrivals and departures of one-way U-Haul truck rentals of any city in Kansas last year, according to the company.

U-Haul also found that overall activity in Wichita increased in 2015, with arrivals up 9 percent from 2014 totals and departures up 8 percent.

Overall, Kansas — which had slightly more traffic out of the state, according to the findings — was ranked 43rd in U-Haul’s state growth rankings for 2015.

North Carolina was the top state as far as growth while Illinois came in last. Among states that border Kansas, Missouri came in 18th on the list, followed by Colorado, No. 22; Nebraska, No. 26; and Oklahoma, No. 46.
