Gray Television to replace Sunflower Broadcasting’s Joan Barrett

When Gray Television closes on its deal to buy KWCH, Channel 12, and other Schurz Communications assets next month, Joan Barrett will be out as president and general manager of Sunflower Broadcasting.

Barrett didn’t return a call for comment, but a KWCH representative said there was a statement on the station’s website.

“During a staff meeting Barrett told her team that Gray decided it was time for fresh eyes in Wichita,” the statement said.

Barrett joined KWCH as news director in 2002 and became general manager 18 months later. She was named president of Sunflower Broadcasting in 2006.
