Nonprofit Chamber to hear about millennial workers next week

The newly independent Nonprofit Chamber of Service of Sedgwick County will grapple with employing millennials at its annual meeting next week.

Ford Saeks, CEO of local marketing firm Prime Concepts, will talk about managing, mentoring and working with people born in the early 1980s to late 1990s.

The chamber members will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Best Western Wichita North in Park City. Organizers are hoping for 75 attendees.

Marsha Hills, interim executive director, said the group was formed in 2008 through a grant from Sedgwick County but had been closely affiliated with the Wichita Independent Business Association until recently. The group is now resuming existence as an independent entity and has about 160 members.

Other session speakers at the event include lobbyist Natalie Bright, whose topic is “Statehouse Advocacy and Protecting Your Resources”; and professional development manager Paula Downs, Hugo Wall School of Public Affairs at Wichita State University, whose topic is “Reality-Based Leadership.”

Other panelists include Dominic Canare, MakeICT; Dennis Clary, Cox Communications; Alesha Smith, Emporia State University; Dawn Truman, JP Weigand and Sons; and Laura Bernstorf, Airbus Americas Engineering and Young Professionals of Wichita.
