Anderson, 46, grew up in Osceolo, Mo. She moved to Minnesota for her husband’s career and got a job as a receptionist in a small hospital, working her way up to HR manager.

The couple moved to Kansas in 2007, partly to be near relatives in surrounding states. Anderson went to work in the Newton Medical Center’s HR department and later served as its marketing director.
Anderson became HR director in December. She said she enjoys recruiting employees, and helping them with benefits and career development. The center’s staff has grown from about 500 to 740 during her time working there.
“I feel I’m pretty good at helping people either do some training or sometimes you figure out this isn’t their best fit.”
Anderson and her husband, Mike, have three children and three grandchildren. They enjoy getting together with family and friends to watch NFL football.
“The (Minnesota) Vikings, yes, even though they’re not very good.”
